John Aman Amazing Man wow it is definitely a mouth full to say and type, so for the remainder of this I will call it JAAM. I like that, because not only did I finish the three and enjoy the story line I jammed out to instrumentals of Metallica. This gave the fighting scenes a bit more oomph. Like when Miss Masque was saying she could save Beatle some trouble if he'd only let her shoot Ratman. Or when Dr. Vampire and John were slaying a nest.
I did get slightly confused along the way with the back stories of certain characters. It just seemed like it was just slapped in some weird places. Dr. Vampires was at the end of the first comic when he was in the beginning of the comic. Then we have the Hessian at the end of issue two. Which we find out towards the end of the third comic is the old guy who is shooting the compost heap! Sorry, I got a little excited. I did enjoy JAAM and plan on adding them to my collection of comics I have at home. The only complaint I have is that Music Master reminds me of if White Violin and Dr. Strange had a baby. Okay it isn't really a complaint it is more of an observation. He was pretty cool though.
Now for my chosen adventure I read Fearscape. Here is the link:
When looking for a comic I will admit I just scrolled to look for one that might interest me. Not only do I love comics, graphic novels, and manga, I love art. I am picky when it comes to the pictures. If I don’t vibe with them, I won’t read it. Plain and simple. I mean unless it is for class. Then I guess I have to deal. Anyway, this comic caught my eye because of the title and cover art. It reminded me of Bio Shock! I had to read it and prayed that no one else picked it.
I had assumed it would be a horror comic, when in reality it is just titled after a realm where monsters and our worst fears come alive. The comic starts off with an old fashion comic grid with a letter to the reader from an author of some sort. I couldn't really grasp who it was. I assume it was the main character, but the phrasing of the letter gave me the tales of the crypt guy vibes. The muse comes to the main character who was just caught stealing manuscript from a friend or acquaintance. The muse assumes him to be the greatest writer and takes him to the fear scape. While in the real world he is gripping about how it isn't his fault he stole in the first place. I feel blame game here. He blames the girl. Then it ends with a cliff hanger with the writer talking to us again. I feel he or she or they are from the Fearscape and wish to share their tale with us. Or at least have us help create the story.
It was a good read overall. I just feel that some readers will get confused with who is telling the story. Are we, or are they?
