Witchcraft is the pursuit of magic, the use of magical tools and herbs to achieve the necessary results. Magic is a natural process; it's not supernatural, nor does it involve any gods, deities, or spirits. Don't get me wrong it can include gods, deities, and spirits, even ancestors can be included but you don't need them. It is simply a way of achieving certain results by using certain tools and methods. Magic can be used for good or bad, but the majority of its practitioners today use it to enrich their lives and make themselves and those around them happier. We will discuss how magic can be used for bad another time though and how to protect yourself. In many ways magic is an art – anyone can learn the basics, but to progress further requires practice and dedication. And unlike religion, there are no rules or dogma to follow: someone who practices magic will approach it in their own way – some might focus on healing, others on divination; some might practice ceremonial magic while others prefer the more intuitive approach of witchcraft. To some extent, magic is all about finding what works for you personally. Just do some research and find what fits you. With the right tools and knowledge, you can become a witch yourself. Becoming a witch is open to anyone with the right tools and knowledge, even you. Yeah, you, the person reading this right now. The most important thing to remember is this: if you don’t know what you are doing, learn from someone who does. They have the information and resources that can help. When it comes to witchcraft, there really aren't any shortcuts. It is also trial and error and so much practice. It's critical that your knowledge is backed up by tools of the trade. You can find many of these online or in stores with a well-stocked New Age section. If you are an absolute beginner, try finding a set of basic items that correspond with elemental magic (Air represents thinking and intellectual pursuits; fire represents passion, creativity, and willpower; water links to emotions as well as healing; earth represents physical strength as well as stability and growth). It's also handy to pick up some protective stones such as black tourmaline or obsidian (these help shield your aura from any negative energy out there). Witchcraft is a way to connect with nature, spirit, and your own inner self. The modern witch practices kindness and seeks to help others. She may believe in karma and the three-fold law, in which every action you make comes back to you three times over. This means that if someone is mean to you, they will receive it three times over. If you act kindly towards someone, then kindness will be returned to you three times over. Love is part of everything that witches do because love draws positive things into your life. Love enables us to see the good in all people and bring out their good qualities so that we can live better lives through them. It's easy to start small, once you have an idea of what you want to do. It's all about the intentions and manifestations you wish to create. To begin, pick something simple like lighting a candle or taking some time to meditate. Focus on your intentions and visualize what you want to happen. Remember that the goal is to change things in your favor, so stay positive! Positivity makes magic stronger, negativity makes it weaker. Once you are ready, believe that it will happen and set your spell in motion! There is also a thing called lazy witchcraft. On days when my depression becomes too much, I use these methods. Just something as simple as sweeping the floor with the intention of cleansing negative energy is practice. It is the mindset that you use and again the intentions you put out. It is important to remember that spells don't always have immediate results; sometimes they take time. One last piece of advice for beginner witches: be mindful of what you do, as magic has a way of coming back to you threefold (for good or ill). There are many different kinds of witches, but they all seek harmony with nature. Witches are often associated with the four elements: earth, air, fire, and water. These elements, along with spirit, represent the base components of all things in nature. However, this is just one way to view the world; there are many different paths a witch can take (more on that later). What unites them is a belief in working with nature rather than against it, devotion to community, and faith in something greater than themselves. Descriptions of witchcraft read like a laundry list of ways to be good: love your neighbor as yourself; be kind to strangers; live gently and ethically on the earth; seek truth and knowledge; keep an open mind … you get the idea. In other words: Witches look for ways to live harmoniously with others while staying in sync with their environment—a practice that stands out as radicalized and rebellious today when we are so used to seeing people working against each other in order to accumulate power at all costs. The modern witch cares about the environment and seeks to act in accordance with its needs. The modern witch cares about the environment and seeks to act in accordance with its needs. The modern witch wants to do their part to help the environment, both on a local level and globally. They may try to reduce their carbon footprint by recycling, composting, reusing materials, reducing waste, driving less, or using public transportation more often. The modern witch practices kindness and seeks to help others. You can be a witch. You can practice witchcraft. And you can make the world a better place, even if you don't consider yourself a witch or practice witchcraft (yet). All you have to do is get involved in your community and find ways to help others, whether through service, activism, charity work, or something else entirely. The modern witch practices kindness and seeks to help others as much as they possibly can while still taking care of themselves and their own well-being. This may mean practicing self-care so that they have the stamina and energy to do things for others later on down the line. It may mean volunteering for causes that encourage people to be kinder toward each other and more helpful toward those who are walking difficult paths in life. It may mean supporting charities that work to make food, housing, medical care, and other necessities available to people who need them (and cannot afford them). Love is part of everything you do. Love from a higher power is essential in creating love for others. Even if the higher power is yourself. Love is the foundation of everything you do. Love from a higher power is essential in creating love for other people. To love others, you must love yourself first. Here are some ways to start practicing self-love. -Start saying positive affirmations to yourself every morning. Positive affirmations can help us reorient our thoughts throughout the day and become more confident in ourselves! -Write down your achievements, no matter how small they may seem at the time! Keep a gratitude journal where you list all of the things that happened during the day that made you happy or proud. Try to write down three things each night before bed! -Purchase an item of clothing (or a cute mug!) that makes you smile every time you see it or use it. This can be a good reminder of self-love when you’re feeling down!

Ancient beliefs are that we must have balance between love and discipline for true knowledge to be achieved are still relevant today. Every part of our lives can be seen as a process of learning. We learn during childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and senior years. In the pursuit of knowledge, we choose our means wisely. We are taught to study hard and work diligently, but in our search for an education, we must realize that there is more than just discipline. To achieve true knowledge we must have balance between love and discipline for true knowledge to be achieved. The Four Elements are earth, air, fire, and water. These are crucial to understanding how our world works and how we can work with it instead of against it. Witches who practice with the elements typically use their own personal interpretation of the element, but most draw heavily on a few common themes. Earth is the element of physicality, grounding, and stability. It is typically associated with the North, and you may see it represented by rocks, crystals, and tree roots in magical work. Air is the element of intellect and wisdom. It is usually associated with the East. Think clouds, wind chimes, and flighty birds when considering ways to represent this element in your craftwork. Fire is the element of creativity, passion, and energy. It is most often associated with the South or even more specifically with summertime and mid-day, especially noon or one o'clock. You can find examples of fire everywhere from campfires to candles to lightning bolts—just be sure your fire doesn't get out of hand! Water is the element of emotions, intuition, and psychic power. This powerful force is typically linked to wintertime or dusk as well as body fluids such as blood or saliva (please don't drink bodily fluids). Water can be represented by anything from rainstorms to swimming pools to goblets full of liquids that you absolutely do not plan on drinking! If you do plan on drinking the liquid from the goblet please be sure that it is safe for human consumption. Spirit is a critical component in witchcraft as well as science--it is our complex consciousness that allows us to perceive ourselves as individuals within a group setting and be recognized as having different needs than each other. Spirit is the mechanism behind the lie, that we are all alone in this world, and no one cares about you or your struggles. It’s an easy and familiar feeling that comes up when you are struggling with something, whether it is as simple as finding a job or as complicated as overcoming an illness. Spirituality is what makes us human; without our ability to feel empathy for ourselves and others, we would be nothing but animals who kill each other to survive. When spirit combines with science to produce a technology such as the internet, it’s easy to see how spirituality has changed our world for the better. Science and religion do not have to be mutually exclusive; they can work together in harmony to create a better world for everyone on Earth. Spirituality does not equate with religion; there are many different types of spiritual practice that do not involve organized religion. Spirituality is also not something that should be forced upon others; just like any other belief system (or lack thereof), it’s important for people to find their own path toward enlightenment and happiness through whatever means works best for them individually! Modern witchcraft is based on ancient traditions but also incorporates scientific knowledge gained from centuries of research into our environment's needs for survival alongside those humans and creatures who live here too! What is witchcraft? Witchcraft or "the Craft," as it's often called, is the practice of magick (not a typo). Witches use their Magick to make positive changes in their lives. To do this, witches draw on their personal power and the power of nature. How do you become a witch? To be a witch, you only need to say that you're one! You don't need to belong to any group or organization—no one can make you a witch. You are born with the ability to tap into your own magickal powers! All you have to do is learn how to control them, which will take time and practice. Do you have to practice Wicca to be a witch? No, flat no. Way back when I first started my journey into the craft I started with Wicca. There are many books that share an abundance of information. But, one quote stuck with me in a 2006 witches almanac, "you do not have to be Wiccan to be a witch!" It is something that stuck with me in my 18 years of practice. I am no longer Wiccan, I do however still practice witchcraft. I am still a witch. I just personally don't tie myself to any sort of organization of religion or creed. I am eclectic with my practice. The whole point is to do research and find what works for you. Love and light readers, EMB
